Seventy people played in this tournament at Marlborough, organised by Bristol Go Club. The attendance for the first and second tournaments was 27 and 53 respectively. It seems safe to say that everyone enjoyed the occasion, and it goes without saying that Bristol enjoyed organising the event.

Jon Diamond (British National Champion) 4-dan of London Go Club won the Wessex (Robnor) Trophy by a tie-breaker with Y. Muroya, 4-dan Tokyo / London. Both had three wins, but John had played Muroya in the first round and had won. A Go stool went with the Wessex Trophy as a permanent prize. Jim Bates, 1-dan, London, was responsible for Johns only defeat.

Mike Roberts, 1-kyu, Bristol, (now 1-dan) won the Second Division for the second year running, winning all his games. Other Division winners were:

Division 3 B. Castledine 6 kyu Cambridge
4 L. Ward 8 kyu Harwell
5 P. Manning 10kyu Cambridge
6 R. Huyshe 12 kyu Unattached
7 P. Jacobs 17 kyu Bracknell
8 P. Letts 19 kyu Bracknell

all with four wins each.

Thanks are due to the Mayor of Marlborough for presenting the prizes.
