Membership Secretary

The Membership Secretary is responsible for maintaining the BGAs membership database, sending out renewal reminders, processing membership applications and issuing membership cards. Any enquiries about go and the BGA can be received and dealt with, especially those of the kind: "Is there a club or another player in my area?". The Membership Secretary can look for possibilities for formation of new clubs and provide contact information to those wishing to do so. Labels are provided for the despatch of mailings to the membership and currently despatch is arranged of the BGJ. Currently the BGA also has an advertised London phone number belonging to another BGA member.

Recruitment and Retention

Suggests ways of and encourages recruitment to the BGA and retention of existing members.

Club Development

Suggests ways of and encourages club development, possibly using the Regional Representatives.

Student Development

Suggests ways of and encourages development of Go amongst students.

Regional Representative

To encourage and support go playing in clubs and schools in their region, including;

  • Keeping in touch with clubs, visiting where practicable or organising visits to them, to offer BGA support including informal tuition where appropriate, and to encourage the recruitment of new players;
  • Encourage youth Go by visiting any schools which run or who are considering running Go Clubs to offer BGA support;
  • Promote the formation of new clubs where clusters of players can be identified;
  • Identify the potential for and assisting with organising Go teaching events;
  • Report back to Council annually on Go in their region.
