Dan diplomas awarded by the BGA

The British Go Association awards dan certificates to players to have achieved sufficiently excellent tournament results (description of the system used). The point to note is that there is a difference between the list of active dan players who compete in British tournaments and people who have been awarded a BGA dan certificate. This list is of the latter group of people.

BGA dan grades are awarded for life, so a few of the people on this list are no longer active players or members of the BGA. (Note, however, that the BGA only awards dan grades to paid up members of the association.) Conversely, a sufficently strong player is welcome to enter a British tournament at a dan grade, even if they have not yet been awarded the corresponding certificate. The ratings FAQ explains this further.

The BGA also publishes a rating list based on the European Go ratings.

Point at each player's name to see the date they were awarded each grade (supply of missing dates is appreciated).
