The Candidates' Tournament took place on alongside the Leamington Go Tournament on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March 2002 at the Oddfellows Hall, 6 Clarence Terrace, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 5LD. Many thanks to Leamington Go Club for their help in arranging this event.

This tournament is the first part of the 2003 British Go Championship.The top 6 go through to the Challengers' League. Tim Hunt also had 2 wins and 9 SOS, but lost out on the tie break, which was nigiri.
