British Go Congress 2018

6th - 8th April 2018, Bristol

This year’s British Go Congress will be held at Future Inns Bristol

This is a modern hotel located in the centre of Bristol which will provide playing rooms as well as offering accommodation and restaurant facilities for those who wish to make use of them.

Accommodation is available at the congress hotel with a special rate for congress participants:

• Single occupancy bed & breakfast:

◦ 6th April: £80

◦ 7th April: £110

• Double occupancy bed & breakfast:

◦ 6th April: £90

◦ 7th April: £120

Please call the hotel to book with the above rates, mentioning that you are attending the British Go Congress.

Given the central location of the congress venue, there are many other accommodation options within a short distance for those who would prefer to stay somewhere different - for example on 17 March Premier Inns were offering 2 nights for £ 127.

We are not arranging any particular food options for Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday a buffet lunch will be available, price £ 8.50.

On Saturday evening a Congress Dinner will be held - this will be a three course meal, price £ 20 (pre-booking essential). Please tell us your meal requirements by Easter Sunday - you can specify this in the entry form below when you register.

Access and Car Parking

The Hotel is very close to the end of the M32.

The most convenient car park is the Cabot Circus multi-storey in Houlton Street. Parking here is free for those staying at the Hotel, while a 50% discount is available for those attending the Congress but not staying at the Hotel.

To reach the car park, go down the M32, and continue straight on when the motorway turns into a dual carriageway until you reach some traffic lights. At the lights keep straight on, and the entrance to the car park is on the left. Please enter the car park as normal; you will be given an entry ticket which can be validated at the Hotel before leaving to obtain your discount.

The hotel is about 1 km from Bristol Temple Meads railway station.

Bristol has 4 "Park and Ride" sites.

British Open

The British Open is a 6 round McMahon tournament held over the Saturday & Sunday of the event. Time limits are 65 minutes plus overtime of 20 stones in 5 minutes, followed by 40 stones in 5 minutes, followed by 5 minutes sudden death (these time limits were amended on 26 March as the previously published ones were not compatible with a Class A Tournament). This will be an EGF class A rated tournament.

British Lightning

The British Lightning tournament is a social handicap tournament played with short time limits (~10 minutes sudden death) on the Friday evening. This tournament will not be rated.
