European Youth Go Championships 2014

So far we've received more than 60 entries for these three events, but it's a little disappointing that we don't have any UK players in the Under-20 Championship yet, especially with the prize of a trip to the World Under-20 Championship in Japan.

The entries we do have for the Under-20 range from 2 dan to 6 dan in strength, so it's definitely going to be a challenging tournament for any entrant.

We'd like to see more UK players in all the events, so if you know of someone young who might like to play (there's no entry fee) please get in contact with them and persuade them to come along.

Remember - We're playing Turkey tonight

Turkey seem to be our strongest opposition in League C the Pandanet European Go Team Championship.

We're playing them tonight, starting at the unusually early time of 7pm, so why don't you all come and watch on Pandanet IGS? We've managed to put out our strongest team, so cross your fingers...

1st Zhu Gang Cup World Team Championship

We've just been informed that the 1st Zhu Gang Cup World Team Go Championship will be held from 19th to 26th December 2013 in Guangzhou City, Guang Dong province in China. The competition is composed of three kinds of teams: Seeded teams (China, Japan, Korea and Chinese Taipe), Wild Card teams (China, Japan and Korea) and Non-seeded teams. European players are invited to take part in this competition as non-seeded teams. The sponsors will pay for all costs in China, with players having to pay for their own travel arrangements.

We're trying to put together a UK team of three players (potentially with a non-playing captain), albeit at short notice and at an inconvenient time of year. If you're interested please get in touch with me and I'll send to the detailed information that we have. The closing date for us to submit our team is 9th December.

You will, of course, need to be a BGA member!
