August 2020 Online Tournament

The third BGA online tournament will take place on the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday 29th August to Monday 31st August.

There is an entry fee of £5 per player and prizes will be awarded as Amazon vouchers (value of prizes will be dependent on number of entries).

Eligibility

This tournament is open to BGA members only.

(One stipulation of EGF rated internet tournaments is that all players must be a member of an association)

Format

  • 3 rounds, 1 per day
  • McMahon pairing
  • Japanese rules, 6.5 komi
  • Games will be played on OGS: https://online-go.com/
  • Time limits: Fischer Time: 40 mins + 10 sec/move
  • EGF Rated: Class D
  • Initial McMahon score will be set by EGF rating by default

Schedule

Games will start at 10:00am each day, and it is preferred that you play at this time.

You may arrange a different time to play, if your opponent agrees. In this case, games must be completed by 17:00 at the latest. Pairings will be published by 19:00 on the day before and email addresses of other players will be provided so that you can contact them to request rearranging.

Friday 28th August

  • 19:00 Round 1: pairings published

Saturday 29th August

  • 10:00 Round 1: default start time
  • 17:00 Round 1: games complete deadline
  • 19:00 Round 2: pairings published

Sunday 30th August

  • 10:00 Round 2: default start time
  • 17:00 Round 2: games complete deadline
  • 19:00 Round 3: pairings published

Monday 31st August

  • 10:00 Round 3: default start time
  • 17:00 Round 3: games complete deadline
  • 19:00 Final results published

WhatsApp Group

We are creating a WhatsApp group for the tournament to allow players to chat socially. Joining this is optional, and whilst we may post some notifications in the chat, all updates will be sent to players by email so you won't miss out on anything if you don't join this group.
