BGA Logo Competition - voting

Introduction

The form allows voting on each of the 6 possible logo options (including the current logo) which were chosen for the shortlist by the board. You must be a member of the BGA to vote and must provide your name for the purposes of validation. Voting is otherwise anonymous and all identifying information will be deleted once the votes have been counted.

A single graphic showing each entry is provided with the form below, alongside supporting documents via Google Drive links. The supporting documents for each entry have been designed to make them as comparable as possible, so they stand on their own merits. Each supporting document contains the relevant logo, an explanation of the design, a series of possible variations on the design, and a mock- up of the design for an Instagram page and as a tri-fold leaflet.

Entries 3, 4 & 5 also provided their own supplementary material for their respective entries. These supplements are also provided in the interest of fairness but be aware that some file sizes are very large. Google Drive may not display them correctly, or they may need to be downloaded to be viewed.

The Google Drive folder, containing all entries and respective supporting documents can be found through this link.

The voting form, which contains the same links and all relevant details can be found through the link at the top of this page.

Voting Deadline

The vote will run from the 1st June 2025 until the 31st July 2025. This allows for a full 2 months of voting. The form will be closed to votes after this point. You must be a member of the BGA while the form is open for your vote to be counted.

You can join the BGA here.

The start of the vote will be announced officially via the Newsletter but also through GoTalk and the BGA Discord. Individuals are also encouraged to share the form as widely as possible to encourage engagement.

Alternative Voting

The voting will be conducted by the "alternative vote" method (also known as "instant run-off voting"). Votes will be ranked for each entry from most to least favourite.

There will be several rounds of vote counting. In the first round the entry with the least number of 1st choice votes will be eliminated, those who gave this entry their first choice will have their votes transferred to their second choice for the second round of voting. This process will repeat through each round, with the entry with the fewest votes being eliminated each time, and the votes being transferred to the next most favoured entry. Hopefully, this results in the most people being as happy as possible with the eventual winner.

Here is a full description of how the alternative/instant run-off voting method works. Here is a simple visual explanation of how the method works (in the context of political elections).

Be aware that, while you do not have to rank every entry from 1 to 6, if you choose not to rank entries below a certain level then your preferences beyond that point will not be counted. This is known as "ballot exhaustion".
