Germany Too Strong for our UK Youth team

European Youth Go Team Championship (EYGTC)
Venue: in the Euro Youth teams room
Sat, 15 Dec 2018

The UK Youth team played a strong German team, on Saturday 15th December, and lost 4-1.

This was our 2nd match in the 2018/19 European Youth Go Team Championship (EYGTC).
So, after our first game vs Croatia, in matches, we've won 1 and lost 1.

This match against Germany was always expected to prove a hard test, as the UK was out-graded on 4 boards:

------------ Germany -------------- ------------- UK ----------------- Result

Feiyang Chen (feiyang) 3d (b) U20 -------------- Yueran Wang (jrstone) 3d (w) U20-------------- 1-0

Manuel Jacobsen (ManuelGJ) 1d (w) U16 ---------- Edmund Smith (dnumde) 3k (b) U16 ------------ 1-0

Gregor Semmler (spiritus4) 2k (b) U16 -------------- George Han (george) 3k (w) U16 ------------ 1-0

Qixuan Wei (WilliamWei) 2d (w) U12 -------------- Daniel Yang (Chunyang18) 1d (b) U12 ------------ 0-1

Zion Kim (zioni) 7k (b) U12 -------------- Xiong Yanyi (yanyi) 15k (w) U12 ------------ 1-0

We can take heart, though, from one of our Under-12 players, with Daniel beating an opponent a grade stronger.

Apart from SGFs to review, we can take experience from this match. Especially so for Yanyi, who was making his debut for our team.

After this match, there are 2 remaining Saturday fixtures, on 12th January and 16th February, and we wish the team luck in those games.
