UK End Season in Fifth
The last round in the 2024-2025 season was against Switzerland. The games were all started at different times and by the advertised start time the UK was 2-1 with just Alison Bexfield's game to go. Unfortunately she lost and the match was tied, but since Belgium didn't lose the UK team was going to stay fifth anyway.
Italy won the B-League, despite losing the last match to second placed Netherlands. Croatia was third ahead of Belgium. Lithuania was demoted and Serbia will be in the play-off.
Jake Game wrote of his game against John Walch: I lost a nice game wherein both players were panicking in time trouble but my opponent was always ahead.
Bruno Poltronierii wrote of his game: I won by resignation against Fabien Lips. My opening consisted of throwing around without much thought as I was distracted a bit by setting up people's matches. I fell behind when black took two large corners and I didn't get much compensation. However in the next fight I cut off a few stones in the centre and got to make good use of my influence. There was then a ko which I won when my opponent played a slack local threat and then he resigned on the spot.
Ryan Zhang won his game against Frederic Schlattner by resignation. It was an exciting game with capturing races, double kos, sekis and moyos where, Ryan got the better of his opponent in multiple fights.
