In the 8th game of the season the team had to play lower-placed Finland. Finland had trouble getting together four players, with talk of games at different days and times, but in the end it was only board one that started early and the UK had to quickly find a reserve player as one of the selected team thought there was no game for them. The match ended a draw leaving the UK in fifth place, with just one match to go, against Switzerland on 13th May.

Scott Cobbold wrote about his game with against Javier-Aleksi Savolainen: The game quickly became complicated after the start, during the fighting I created too many groups leading to a collapse.

Jake Game wrote: After a very back and forth game both me and my opponent, Olli Ervelä, believed that I had lost, but it turned out the komi was set incorrectly and I had won by 9.5. Very lucky for me!

Bruno Poltronieri wrote: I won my game against Pekka Lajunen by resignation. He started a ko on the left side early in the game when there were no real threats. This gave me a decent lead and he then started another fight which devolved into more kos. This lead to me capturing a big group and cutting off a weak group of his in the centre. He resigned not much later.

Edmund Smith played a peaceful game with Mikko Lappeteläinen failing to get enough territory to lose by 15.5.
