Winter Tournaments Round Up

The first event of 2024 was Lancaster on 3rd February won by Peikai Xue (4d UCL) with 45 players. Report Results

The Ulster Open in Lisburn on 17th Feb was won by the only visitor from the UK mainland amongst the 14 players, Lucretiu Calota (4d St Albans). Results

Oxford was on 24th February at the West Oxford Community Centre. Best of the 54 players was Tianyi Chen (6d Liverpool). Also on 3/3 were Michael Mitcham-Harding (4k York), James Taylor (6k Oxford University) and Si Qi Adam Chen (17k Oxford City). Results

Cheshire, in Frodsham on 2nd March, had 48 players. Winner was Chenghang Liu (5d Liverpool). On 3/3 were Andrew Russell (2k Birmingham), Lauren Hindmarch (10k Lancaster), Joe Bonser (25k Cheadle Hulme School) and Jake Bentham (30k Cheadle Hulme School). Results

Coventry at Warwick University on 9th March had 23 players. Dongshan Wang (5d China) was the winner. On 3/3 were Jonah Burnstone-Cresswell (2k Birmingham) and Florian Pein (7k Lancaster). Results

The MSO GP had three Go events, all played online on PlayStrategy. The 21-player 19x19 event on 17th February saw gold going to Yat Hin Yorkson Cheung, silver to Denis Dobranis and bronze to Darius Dobranis. Results On 25th February 13 players played 13x13 with medals going to Darius Dobranis, Yat Hin Yorkson Cheung and Joanne Leung.
